Deeply concerned that a nation other than the USA will be the first to reach the moon, a scientist, a former army general and an industrialist collaborate to design, build and launch a manned spaceship powered by an atomic engine.

As their project evolves and construction of spaceship ‘Luna’ gets underway in the Mojave Desert, propaganda generated by (of course) ‘foreign’ sources turns the tide of public opinion against the project. The trio, accompanied by an electronics technician, decide to forgo testing of the atomic motor and bring forward the launch date.

The movie attempts to deal with the subject matter in a ‘scientific’ manner – although Woody Woodpecker is drafted in to explain the basics of rocketry - as seen in the late 1940s. Based on a novel by Robert Heinlein, the film stars John Archer, Warner Anderson, Dick Wesson and Tom Powers. It was an Academy Award winner for its special effects.

(My most vivid memory of seeing this film in 1950 is walking home from the cinema and looking up at a bright, full moon. That view coupled with this film was to make me an avid science fiction reader).

Get Into ZBrush

Picking up where Volume I left off, this title from KURV studios is a little more than 6 hours of comprehensive training from skilled artist, Wayne Robson. This video is a project based training video showing you how to create the cover image, Oranguman. Oranguman is Wayne’s character imagining if the Orangutan species evolved into a human type species. This video starts off showing you some tips on modeling and some time saving interface customizations. Wayne then moved on into the modeling sections where he goes from a basic ZSphere character to showing you how to create fine details included details in HD. Wayne then shows you how to texture the character in three separate detailed sections. We have setup this DVD so that you can pick and choose the areas you want to learn. maybe you are already familiar with texturing, but want comprehensive information on HD detailing your model in ZBrush 3.1, simply open that chapter. But don’t dismiss the posing chapter as we learned a few time saving nuggets in that area ourselves. This video is more than 6 hours of training.
